10 Brilliant Chess Openings in the World

These 10 openings are the most brilliant openings in chess that every chess player had heard of. Chess played at an advanced level mostly starts with one of these openings.

         #1. E4 (The Italian Setup)

E4 is the most commonly played and loved opening in chess at basic, advance, master, and grandmaster levels. E4 refers to the pawn at the front of the king. Though it has many defense and counter-attacks it still leaves white in a great winning position when played correctly.

#2. Queen's Gambit

This is a very strong opening for white if black replies to whites opening d4(pawn in front of the queen) with d5(pawn in front of the black queen). The idea of this opening is to destroy black's queenside and develop his pieces.

#3. The Sicilian Defense

This opening is often played by GM BOBBY FISHER
against the opening E4( kings pawn opening). This great opening move for black to take control over the center and grab pieces. It also allows blacks to play dragons and try to take white's kingside rook.

#4. King's fianchetto opening

This opening is also called the dragon's play. This is kind of a tactic used to capture opponents' rook and also gain control over the center. This opening can be played by both players.

#5. Berlin Defense

This defense was first played by GM MAGNUS CARLSON to exchange queens and take black's ability to castle in a tournament.

#6. Petrov defense

This is another opening for black to gain development in pieces. It is not a very good opening but sometimes players do mistakes in answering this move and so convert their win to lose.

#7. Ponziani

It is a great move for white to play. White hits the center with his two central pawns, against blacks one weak central pawn. This often leads to gain in material for white if black does play it correctly.
You can learn about this opening from GM Eric Rosen.

#8. Danish Gambit

This is a sneaky opening for white to trap black. It starts with sacrificing two pawns by the white and developing bishop. It is great till black falls for it but it leaves white king in open, making it dangerous.

#9. Nf3 (The Reti Opening)

This opening is most often played by black players against queens gambit or e4. It is sort of the same opening as Berlin's defense.

#10. 4 Move Checkmate

This is a very simple chess tactic. It is mostly played by beginners. But sometimes it is played by advanced players in a different style. It is very common and most of the player do not fall for this trick.

That's it for now about chess. To learn more about chess stay tuned.

    1. I really appreciate that you liked our content. We did not add poisoned pawn variation because it is a trap for black and not a opening. It will not work if black does not replies with specific moves.
      Thanks a lot for reading.
